What is it?

The Nudge Curriculum is a science-informed framework designed to develop the micro-skills students need to thrive - academically, emotionally, and personally. Rooted in behavioural science, cognitive psychology, and executive functioning research, this approach helps students make better choices by redesigning their environments, habits, and self-perception.

Rather than lecturing students into change, we work with how the brain actually learns. Nudges are subtle cues that make it easier to do the right thing, like a default setting that supports success. In practice, this might look like well-timed prompts, visual cues, structured reflections, or gamified systems that increase engagement and motivation.

How is it structured?

Designed initially for years 9 to 13, the curriculum spans across five years and introduces 30 progressive skills across three core domains:

  • Executive Functioning

  • Personal Effectiveness

  • Academic Agility

Each skill is taught explicitly for half a term through memorable, student-friendly language and backed by practical tools, coaching questions, and classroom nudges that make change stick. The skills build on one another and are introduced at relevant points in the academic year. We are now working with middle school educators to understand how best to integrate younger years into the framework.

At its heart, The Nudge Curriculum is about empowerment over enforcement. It’s not just what students learn—but how they learn to take ownership of their thinking, behaviour, and future.
