The Education Architect
Because great education doesn’t happen by accident, it’s designed. The best teachers aren’t just deliverers of content; they’re architects of experience, carefully crafting spaces where curiosity grows, thinking deepens, and young people learn how to thrive. I chose the name The Education Architect because it reflects the intentional, creative, and human work behind powerful learning. It’s about designing with care: the culture of a classroom, the questions we ask, the choices we offer, and the futures we help build. Just as an architect shapes environments for living, I believe educators shape environments for becoming.
This site is my blueprint, part reflection, part provocation, and part invitation to reimagine what education can be.
About Me
Welcome to The Education Architect. I’m Kirsty Nunn - teacher, researcher, coach, and relentless advocate for doing education differently.
This space brings together my passions for psychology, pedagogy, and technology, with one clear aim: to help people build lives they’re proud of. Whether you're a fellow educator, a curious parent, or a student finding your way, here you'll find ideas that challenge the norm, make sense of the science, and put people first. I believe in creating classrooms and systems that empower rather than contain, inspire rather than instruct, and support every learner to discover their brilliance.

My Story
I came into teaching later in life, driven by a deep desire to help others discover their brilliance and to share my love of learning. I was shaped by teachers who showed me what education could be: Mr Bream’s relentless belief in his students, Mr Bowden’s patience and kindness, and Mr Vicary’s infectious passion. Their influence sparked a determination to make that same kind of difference for others.
After a career in industry, I retrained as a teacher through the Mid Somerset Consortium shortly after my eldest son was born. I began teaching in 2016 and later took on a range of academic, pastoral, and co-curricular roles at Taunton School. In 2022, I joined Millfield, where I now lead the Computer Science Department, champion the school’s coaching culture, and contribute to national conversations around education, coaching, and neurodiversity. Millfield has become a place where my strengths are recognised and nurtured, allowing me to grow both personally and professionally.
A defining moment in my career has been being named Edufuturist Uprising Educator of the Year 2025, recognising my innovation and authenticity in education, but truly I could not have achieved this accolade without support from so many others. I’m now writing The Neurospicy Teacher, a book designed to help neurodivergent educators understand their strengths and thrive in the classroom.
The Education Architect began as a quiet space to organise my thinking, but it has grown into a platform for sharing ideas, provoking reflection, and reimagining what education can be. It continues to evolve as a creative home for the projects, research, and writing that shape my work - including the upcoming release of The Neurospicy Teacher.
